- Local Nature Reserves and Hiking Trails Nature is one of the best classrooms! There’s something so refreshing about spending the day exploring God’s creation. Check out local nature reserves or hiking trails. Pack a picnic, bring along a nature journal, and let your kids observe and document the flora and fauna they find. It’s an excellent way to combine physical activity with science lessons. Plus, it’s completely free!
- Museums and Art Galleries Did you know many museums and art galleries offer free admission days or discounted rates for homeschoolers? We’ve had some fantastic days out learning about history, art, and science. Just call ahead or check their websites to find out when these days are. It’s like a treasure hunt for knowledge!

From sports and fitness classes to arts and crafts workshops, there’s something for every interest. It’s also a great way for your kids to meet new friends and try out new hobbies without a big financial commitment.

One of my favorite fall activities to do with my kids that they look forward to doing every year is apple picking! I know it seems really cliché but it can be a huge educational experience, not just a great chance for photos! We always do an apple unit study a week or two before we go to our local apple orchard and it always makes for a fun and educational time.

Just type in your location and search for events on Facebook, and you’ll be surprised at how many cool things are happening right in your own neighborhood!
