Remove what you don’t need!

Go through all the items in your homeschool room (or anywhere else you store supplies, games, books, paper, etc) and remove anything that is broken, unused, or unnecessary. This will give you a clear view of what you truly need and use, making the rest of the process much smoother.
Categorize your items
Once you’ve decluttered, start categorizing everything you have left. Group similar items together—books with books, art supplies with art supplies, and so on. This will help you see exactly what you have and make it easier to find what you need when you need it.
Use clear containers

We priced out different options and the Ivar shelving from Ikea is very reasonably priced for solid wood shelving that is sturdy and holds a lot of weight without risk of the shelves bowing. Those MDF shelves just don’t cut it once you load them up with homeschool curriculum and tons of books.
If building your own shelves from scratch isn’t something you can undertake and you want solid wood shelves that will stand the test of time instead of “disposable” shelving made of MDF and chemicals that you find in Target and Walmart, then the Ikea Ivar shelving system is the best option at the cheapest price!
Label everything
A label maker is an indispensable tool for any organized homeschool room. Clearly label all your containers, jars, baskets, bins, shelves, and drawers to ensure that everyone knows where things belong. This not only keeps your space tidy but also teaches your children the importance of organization.

Rotate seasonal items

I keep a lot of my holiday items in baskets on the very top shelf of my homeschool shelves. I can barely reach them without a stool, but at least I know they are safe up there!
Long term storage
For items that you know you won’t need for a while but don’t want to get rid of, utilize long-term storage solutions. Clear plastic bins with labels are ideal for this. Store them in a closet, basement, or attic where they’re out of the way but still easily accessible when needed.
Homeschool records and used up curriculum can also be stored in plastic storage bins. I personally like the clear file totes from Office Max.
Keep it kid-friendly
Finally, make sure your homeschool room is kid-friendly. Arrange items at heights that your children can reach, and ensure that their favorite learning materials are easily accessible. Create cozy reading nooks and inviting spaces where they are inspired and comfortable.
