We set it up right in our Flisat table with a fun fall filler underneath, and I handed the kids dry erase markers. Each of them wrote the names of people and things they were thankful for on the leaves and carefully placed them into the slots on the tree.
It was beautiful watching their gratitude grow branch by branch, while also sneaking in spelling, handwriting practice, and some really meaningful social-emotional learning. Even fine motor skills got a boost as they placed the leaves into the slots!
This is the kind of activity that makes homeschooling so rich! My children weren’t just memorizing facts, they were practicing gratitude, building real-life skills, and engaging their whole selves in learning.
